Engineered wood floors with a top layer that is less than 2 mm thick can be screened which is the process of removing the urethane and applying a new coat but they cannot be refinished. That led to a few customers asking if we can re stain engineered wood floors. There are factors that reduce the number of times any engineered hardwood floor can be refinished. Floors with a wear layer less than 2 millimeters thick can tolerate a light scuff sanding with a buffer.
